New age science?

This blog is just a series of notes to document my body and the improvements done to it to keep it alive.  My lovely wife says I am not special for it but it amazes me that I am still here at age 73!

Startng at the top and working my way down:

Head:

Cataract eye surgery.  This was anxious causing  for the first eye  and I was looking forward to the second eye.  At this point my vision (which has always been good, with reading glasses from age 44 on) was improved to not even needing reading glasses unless I am lounging with my Kindle during cocktail hour.  Then I use reader glasses.  It is more relaxing.  I opted for the variable lens which cost at that time, an extra $5000 over what Medicare covered.  Well worth it.  A Dr. Shu of the Everett Clinic did the two 10 minute surgeries.

Nose:  I had a deviated septum from birth? and had a surgery to help me sleep.  Success!   Dr. Berenger of Everett Clinic.

Ears:  I tried Costco hearing aids that needed batteries every week of so, They worked better than no aids, then I went to Stanwood Hearing and Tonia Macphail who got me L&I insurance for life because of my woodshop teaching career.  I started there with $6800 PhoneAk  rechargables, better than the two Costco brands.  After 5 years I got new ones (every five years) and switched to Oticon rechargable too.  Better each upgrade.

Teeth:  I have crowns on 2,3,4,8,9,12,13,15,20,and 31!  Since I started using my electric toothbrush (Sonic Care) I have no new issues.

Torso:

Spleen removed in 2001, motorcycle wreck.  Harbor View Hospital in Seattle after a 14 minute helicopter ride to there from the Arlington Hospital.

Triple Hernia

Appendix removed

Vasectomy when I was 29

Legs:

Knees:  Two full knee installations, Jan.3 2024 on the right side, May 14, 2024 on the left..  Dr. Bill Huang of the Everett Bone and Joint.  Total success!  I was able to go skiing after taking 5 years off.  No pain although Physical Therapy is still going on to get the legs strong again.
