Welcome to the documentation of a great day of disc golf and proper leisure!

The Griffin Hill Solstice Disc Invitational, the GHSDI

June 20, 2026, 16 hours of daylight for us to fool around in!

The Count (course administrator) was out an about at 7:30 am getting things ready for the day when the first arrivals showed up at the gate at 08:00!  JJ, Kyle, Alex and Aaron.  WTF ??? are they doing here 1.5 hours in front of registration was the thought!

There was a perfect reason for this. JJ had brought a keg (which he made himself) of his Cosmic Crisp apple cider, 6% alcohol which was contained in a large and heavy ice chest  with all sorts of hoses and other things that made it emerge at the push of a button.  That was an excellent libation to whet the throat all day long!

The weather was perfect (starting at about 68F and going to 74 at the end), as we started the registration at the appointed time, 09:30 and signed up the 25 players.

25 of the best along with Bingo the dog!

The results as captured by the intrepid Scorekeeper, a jewel of a long serving friend!

Note:  Aces were had by Bling (2) and Ben (Kaal or Hoot?) Who split the Ace Pot ($25)

Zoom in if you can for extra examination.

The naked nymph was modeled on Joy, but she had to do a bike ride with a friend having a birthday.

Food was plentiful with the potluck bringing in all sorts of great snacks.  My favorite was the beef barley soup by B. Eh! with some sliced brats added in.  The sweet potato pie was amazing!  Of course there were evil things like fresh donuts by Skat. There was something odd seen below.

Chat GPT translated this as Duck Tongue

During the course clean-up the next day, it was wonderful to see NO LITTER, although there were a couple items left out there...
A pretty full IPA beer waiting to go home.
A lonely disc abandoned
by the horse manure pile.

Notable trophies were awarded and B. Eh! who left the 2nd place trophy at home, won it again but threatened to deliver it to Dragon Hawk, his partner.  TBD

The Forget Me Not trophy was left behind by Coach, who had lost his hat out on the course.

Straight Shooter Shotgun Bubble gun was left behind by Bling (shot 2 Aces and a CTP) but he was mounted on his 'way too fast' motorcycle..

The course was set and ready to go!!  Thanks to B.Eh!, Cajun, and Jerry Garcia.

Photos below were mostly courtesy of Garry the Brit!  Apparently those folks born in Britain and named Garry are tagged with the nickname of Gaza!  It was a good day to capture the course with the dramatic clouds adding some fun and lots of dappled sun too!

The Miller, Ron, and the President discuss the added strokes on
the Stop Sign. Hole 2 and 16

The dreaded Stop Sign.  Hit the sign and put it in the basket
and take off a stroke.  UGH but it is entertaining to watch!
Many added strokes by several players.

Ron, Bling, Autumn on Tee 16

The deep forest.

Chainsaw and Bling messing about after taking a tough shot on the
double gong.  NOTE:  That target added a LOT of strokes as
IF you hit both on the same throw you take off a stroke.
The reality was added strokes for at least 3-4 players!

Doorman preparing to drive hole 11 with Bling in a dangerous
location.

Bling, Ron, and the President in the goat pasture.

Doorman teeing off on hole 11, Bling, Chainsaw, The President, and The Miller
discussing the next hole and the water hazard.

Shaun and Phunston shooting 9.

Big Bubba Belly teeing off on hole 7.
